This crayfish is also commonly known as the Orange or Tangerine Lobster, though true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. This is a very hardy animal, but regular water changes are vital to its optimal health. Other bottom-dwelling invertebrates and fish should not be kept with large crayfish.



As with all of our crayfish, the coloration of the Red Crayfish is EXTREMELY high quality - much higher quality than others on the market. This crayfish may TEMPORARILY change color and hide more than usual after molting, which may occur during shipping.


 


Crawfish meat is sweet like lobster meat but more tender and not quite as rich. Alive, red swamp crawfish are red to nearly black; white-river crawfish are light to dark brown. All crawfish cook up brilliant red. Raw meat is grayish in color. Cooked meat should be a clean white. Softshell crawfish are those that have just molted. Crawfish are freshwater crustaceans that resemble miniature lobsters,

With the use of gel ice packs, they remain fresh even in the rare (though unfortunate) event of some of the crays arriving in a "not-alive" state.
