Technical Specified Rubber (TSR) which is also known as block rubber is graded according to precise technical parameters such as dirt content, ash content, nitrogen content, volatile matter and properties of the rubber such as its Wallace Plasticity (PO) and its Plasticity Retention Index (PRI)
TSRs are widely graded (by the aforementioned technical parameters) and named differently in different countries. For example, in Vietnam, TSRs are divided into 10 grades (Lov, CV60, CV50, L, 3L, 5, 10CV, 10, 20CV, and 20), with descending order of rubber quality and named Standard Vietnam Rubber (SVR). In other countries, TSRs could go by many names including SIR, SMR and STR with different sets of technical parameters. Please be noticed that SIR 3L from Indonesia is technically different from SVR 3L from Vietnam, despite their partial similarity in the naming scheme.
TSR 3L or SVR 3L could be considered a balanced trade-off between quality and cost, compared to TSR-L (or SVR L in Vietnam). Therefore, SVR 3L is widely used in rubber bands, tapes, adhesive solutions, textiles, surgical, pharmaceutical products, industrial rollers for the paper printing industry, bicycle tubes, chewing gum, and gaskets
