The project to produce high quality craft beer comes to life in the year 2013 and in a few years it became a concrete reality where tradition meets modernity: the genuineness of raw materials combined with the highest standards of production innovation. The malts used are derived from the barley cultivated exclusively by the family-owned farm, allowing the Flea Brewery to link its entire production to an important and transparent characteristic: the short food chain, starting from the barley up to the water, pure and precious good that flows naturally from the sources that make Gualdo Tadino famous all over the world. For the production of all the various types of beer is used malt of barley and wheat, without any process of filtration and pasteurization. These beers are therefore refermented in the bottle in order to preserve their original organoleptic characteristics, without adding any chemical additive. The other raw materials, such as hops, yeast and sugar, are purchased exclusively from selected suppliers.

Our barley has its roots in a very ancient story. Emperor Frederick II visited Gualdo Tadino around 1242, during his dispute with the Papacy, when he found the loyal Ghibelline town of Gualdo destroyed after a terrible fire. Touched by the fate of the allied town, the Emperor showed his generosity by building the new city walls, of which he personally laid the first stone of the renovated "Flea Castel". Furthermore, "he rode his horse around this land, and sowed with his own hands wheat, barley, spelt, broad beans, millet and other oils; he asked the Almighty to help the Castle grow and the people multiply, and to ensure them food and an everlasting safety". (Chronicon) Nowadays, Birra Artigianale Flea originates from the well-known waters of Gualdo Tadino and the seeds sown by Emperor Frederick II many centuries ago. Moreover, Matteo and Maria Cristina have a strong passion for local stories about heroes, ladies and witches, and decided to name the four beers after these people: Isabella, Adelaide, Bianca Lancia, Margherita, Costanza, Anais, Federico II, Federico II Extra, Bastola and Violante.

Flea Brewery thinks of the Supermarkets and LARGE ORGANISED DISTRIBUTION by proposing 5 different labels and 5 different flavors able to approach every single taste: Blonde, Red, Weiss, Ipa and Gluten Free.

Ma Ma is an Italian craft beer that is bringer of those principles that Flea brewery carries on for each production: nature, thanks to our barley coming from the Umbrian lands, purity, which is in the water used for our production, that flows in the freshwater springs of Gualdo Tadino and preciousness, that we can savor thanks to the highest quality used raw materials. All the beers do not contain non- malted cereals, they are neither filtered nor pasteurized, but refermented in the bottle in order to preserve to the maximum the original organoleptic characteristics of the beer, without adding preservatives and chemical additives.

Water is a priority in brewing. As the availability of quality drinking water is becoming increasingly scarce, "Sans Papiers" creates water from the air around it. Using a unique machine powered by renewable energy the water is made by converting the humidity of the air giving life to the first eco-sustainable beer in the world.

The Flea Brewery is designed with the most modern thermal insulation techniques, which help to maximise the structure's energy performance, resulting in savings in economic resources and considerable environmental benefits. In fact, it has a 430 kW photovoltaic system installed on the building.

Another planned innovation will be the installation of a biogas plant on the land surrounding the Company, thanks to which waste from the processing of the beer itself can be recovered to produce additional energy, as well as heat.
