Recommendation on how to choose kite line for your kites!
The shape of the kite may be different,take the wingspan of the triangle kite as an example.The following data are for reference only :

Kites below 3ft: 50lb~100lb
Kites within 3~4.5ft: 100lb~150lb
Kites within 4.5~7.5ft: 150lb ~ 250lb
Kites within 7.5~9ft: 200lb~400lb
Kites above 9ft: >350lb
(The same wingspan but area is larger.Please increase the pulling force properly.)
The thinner the kite string,the better the kite flying experience,but the easier it is to break.The thicker the kite string,the harder it is to break.Please make your own choice and make sure that the line could hold your kite.

RECORD
In 2014 the single-line single-kite altitude world record was made using a kite line of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) with 300 pound breaking-strength. Robert Moore and his team used 12,400 metres of line to fly a 12 square metre kite to 16,009 feet above the launch point. Braided Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) line are stronger and lighter than Kevlar for a given diameter.

Smooth
UHMWPE line is attractive for its high strength, abrasion resistance, light weight and smaller line diameter. It is naturally very slippery, which multi-line fliers love since crossed lines don't inhibit the control of the kite.But on the other hand,cons include difficult to handle (slippery and can cut you hands).
High strength
High tensile strength UHMWPE line used by kite fliers who require line of the highest tensile strength, yet is smaller in diameter and lighter in weight than any other type of line, tether.For a given strength, UHMWPE line is much thinner and lighter than the other commonly used line materials. That explains why it has been used for altitude record attempts!
Low elasticity
Most of all UHMWPE line has very low stretch, which is important for flying steerable multi-line kites. UHMWPE line is of low stretch less than 3%. Only with very slight traction, you will get the response from traction kite/stunt kite both quickly and correctly.
And...not resistant to high temperature.Be careful when you using it!
UHMWPE line is a relatively safe kite line, but because it can not withstand high temperature,it must be kept well away from lines of other types while in the air. A back and forth sawing action by the other line will soon friction-heat the UHMWPE to the point of failure.
