PLA and PHBV are 100% bio-based, biodegradable, nontoxic and biocompatible polymers. This project developed technologies for low temperature yarn texturing and dyeing processes in shorten time made from PHBV/PLA fibre. The production processes in shorten time made from PHBV/PLA fibre. The production process achieves high dye uptake and colour fastness. The textile products have naturally anti-bacterial and mite-resistant properties without any additional chemical agents.
The anti-bacterial yarns are from the Bioserica fibre. the main advantage of Bioserica fibre is natural additive-free, green, environment friendly, and safe for human body. Once mixed with different materials like cotton,modal, polypropylene, spandex etc, the anti-bacterial yarns can be widely applied to textile, home textiles, female products, infant products, sport wear and medical auxiliary material. Anti-bacterial yarns can be a replacement of the traditional silver anti-bacterial yarns or copper anti-bacterial yarns.
