Catechin is a type of phenolic active substance extracted from natural plants such as tea. The molecular formula is C15H14O6 and
the relative molecular mass is 290.28. It is a white needle-like crystal (water-acetic acid) with a melting point of 212~216°C. It
is soluble in hot water, ethanol, glacial acetic acid, acetone, slightly soluble in cold water and ether, and almost insoluble in
benzene, chloroform and petroleum ether.
