A butterfly valve is a type of flow control device, used to make a fluid ? start or stop flowing through a section of pipe. It is well applied to stainless steel pipe systems for food, beverage, dairy, brewing, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Working Principle
Butterfly valves are valves with a circular body and a rotary motion disk closure member which is pivotally supported by its stem.
Buterfly valve is either remote-controlled by means of an actuator or manually operated by means of a handle. The handle for manual operation mechanically locks the valve in its full open, half open and closed position. By rotating the handle, the motion disk either parallel or perpendicular to the flow of water, shutting off the flow. The actuator is designed so that an axial movement of a piston is transformed into a 90° rotation of a shaft. The torque of the actuator is increased when the valve disc contacts the seal ring of the butterfly valve.
Operation Design
The actuator is made in three standard versions, normally closed (NC), normally open (NO) and air/air activated (A/A).
Manually handle locks the valve in 3 position: Full open, half open and closed.* *For different handles type, see Handle Available.
