Product Description

Heat pads can generate heat, mainly due to the fine iron powder. After uncovering the transparent film, the oxygen in the air passes through the non-woven bag and comes into contact with the iron powder. Under the catalysis of water and table salt, the iron powder undergoes oxidation reaction and becomes ferric oxide (Fe2O3). Since this oxidation reaction is exothermic, it releases heat.

Chemical equation:

1. Negative electrode: Fe-2e-=Fe2+

2. Positive electrode: O2 + 2H2O + 4e-=4OH-

3. The total reaction: 2Fe + O2 + 2H2O=2Fe(OH)2

4. 4Fe(OH)2 + 2H2O + O2=4Fe(OH)3↓2Fe(OH)3 ==== Fe2O3+3H2O
