WOOD PELLETS

Wood pellets are small cylindrical pieces 10–20 mm long with diameters varying from 5 to 10 mm produced from fine-ground wood bark. They are usually used as fuel by feeding into burner automatically because of their small and fixed form. On the other hand, energy is consumed in the process of drying and grinding wood barks for making wood pellets. Therefore, wood pellets have a smaller ratio of output energy to input energy than wood chips; however, wood pellets can be used in residential houses to be burnt efficiently in relatively small stoves.
