Light yellow crystals. It is soluble in hot nitrobenzene, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water and soda ash solution. It is yellow when dissolved in caustic soda solution

Phenol AS is mainly used as a primer for cotton dyeing. It is also used as a primer for vinylon, viscose, silk, diacetate and cotton printing. Often mixed with large red base G dyed red; with reddish-based GBC dyed purple sauce; with orange-based GC combined with yellow orange; with blue salt VB combined with blue, is one of the most important phenol. Chromool AS is also used in the manufacture of fast pigments, fast amines, fast sulfonates and organic pigments.
