Ferrocene is a metal organic compound. Under ordinary temperature, it is a kind of orange powder with camphor smell. The melting point is 172-174℃ and the boiling point is 249℃. It is insoluble in water, but easily soluble in benzene, ethyl ether, gasoline, diesel oil and other organic solvents. It can’t react with acid, alkali and ultraviolet. Chemically it is stable, and decomposes at 400℃.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ferrocene has been used as energy-saving antismoke agent, antiknock agent, radiation absorber, heat stabilizer, light stabilizer. It has been applied to synthesize ammonia catalyst and rubber curing agent. In addition, it was replaced of toxic antiknock agent to prepare high-grade unleaded gasoline.
