Railway spike (also known as track nspike) is a large spike with offset head, which is used to fix the rail and base plate to the railway tie rod (sleeper) in the track. In small-scale work, the spike is still driven into the wooden sleeper by hitting the wooden sleeper with a nail hammer. Although this manual work has been replaced by hydraulic tools and machines.
