GIORGIO MELETTI CAVALLARI BOLGHERI'S winery is a relatively young company, established in 2002 and the winery is named after the young owner, son of the art, who grew up among the vineyards of Podere Grattamacco, a fundamental production reality in the sphere of BOLGHERI Superiore Doc.
After graduating from the Agricultural Institute of Siena, Giorgio decided to gain wine experience in Italy, in Chianti and then in Franciacorta, and then flew overseas, landing in Napa Valley California.
Once he returned and worked in the family business, he decided in 2002 that the time had come to start his own path in the world of wine: the chosen stage is that of Castagneto Carducci BOLGHERI, 12 hectares located in the DOC BOLGHERI area at a height-record for the type, a good 350 meters above sea level, an area whose fame in the wine world is acclaimed with the TOP of SuperTuscans.
The young entrepreneur has crystal-clear ideas from the very beginning, he wants to produce great SuperTuscan wines with a Bordeaux blend, which are a clear expression of the terroir, characterized by finesse of workmanship and cultivated in a logic of sustainability and quality. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Vermentino and Viognier grapes are chosen and selected.
In this small area of the Tuscan Maremma of BOLGHERI, the noble Bordeaux vines have found a second home, thanks to the suitable soils and a sunny, warm climate, but always ventilated by the gentle breezes of the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. The wine is a sincere and direct expression of the characteristics of this "terroir" and preserves the artisanal face made of passion, experience and great knowledge of the particular peculiarities of the BOLGHERI area.
