100% Sangiovese Toscana
Vinification and ageing
Vintage at foenolic maturity. 
Harvest: manual in cases.
Vinification soft stemmer-crushing, fermentation at controlled temperature (28°C) in stainless steel vats for 15 days at least. Malolactic fermentation at the end of the alcoholic fermentation, part in stainless steel vats and part in barriques.
Oak-ageing
At least 30 months in 225 l.-mid toasted-French-oak barriques and Sloveanian wood barrels of 65hl.

In the middle of the Tuscan hills, a few steps from Montalcino and from the famous Sant'Antimo Abbey, you can find the Azienda Agricola Scopone, which starts making wine in 1996. Its wines, small production, high quality, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC and IGT Toscana Il Bagatto, are characterized by rich colours, perfumes and taste perfectly balanced since the winery combines the avant-garde technologies for vinification with the ages-old Tuscan wisdome and wine-making experience, using also barriques and casks.
The vineyards (12 hectares) are characterized by Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello grapes) besides some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.


WHY CHOOSE US


Scopone is a small winery, not far from the town of Montalcino, where the vine stocks in the vineyards are treated with the highest attention so that only a minimum of artificial intervention is registered. The result is in the bottles that Scopone has the pleasure to present.
Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino are done in “purezza”: 100% Sangiovese Grosso both aged in French Oak Barriques (225 L) and in casks of Slavonian wood (60 Hl). The Rosso 6 months the Brunello 2 – years. Il Bagatto, in the category of Supertuscans, is a blended wine, done with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese , Petit Verdot and aged for 18 months in French Barriques.
Opening the bottles some hours before serving will allow the wine to open up and sot transmit to your taste all the wonderful sensations, testimony of the work and passion of Scopone in taking care of these great grapes of the Montalcino hills.
