As far as you know, garlic is easy to grow and can be grown year-round in mild climates. Nearly all of the garlic in cultivation is propagated asexually, by planting individual cloves in the ground.

 

 

In cold climates, cloves are planted in the autumn and harvested in late spring. Garlic plants are usually very hardy, and are not attacked by many pests or diseases. So garlic that is harvested is very big, round, no mold or white rot.

After harvesting garlic bulbs, we clean them by cutting their roots. Garlic should be discarded if they are soft or spongy or show signs of mold.

Garlic bulbs should be clean and white with a dried neck and outer skin and quite firm under pressure.

 

Commonly, garlic is stored warm above 18 °C (64 °F) and dried under the sunshine to keep it dormant (lest it sprout).

 

Traditionally garlic is hung or often braided in strands called plaits.

Throughout ancient history, the main use of garlic was for its health and medicinal properties. Garlic prevents the common cold. With garlic’s anti-fungal properties, it can be a good way to get rid of itchy athlete's foot. Besides it also improves cholesterol levels, which may lower the risk of heart disease.
