[Obi]
An obi is a long, narrow piece of cloth tied around the waist when wearing Japanese clothing. In modern Japanese clothing, it has the same status as a kimono, and is essential when wearing Japanese clothing. Obi are broadly divided into three types.
1) Fukuro obi, which are mostly used as obi for formal occasions
2) Nagoya obi, which are mostly worn with casual kimono
3) Hanhaba obi, which are used for yukata (summer kimono)
