Two roll Mixing Mills are designed to ensure perfect and uniform blending of natural and synthetic rubber with other raw materials. These mills provide uniform mixing of the material to the desired level. Most of the mixing mills are driven by electronic motor and different models have different output
Main features:
Two rigid pillars with removable tops carry the rolls, which are placed either in friction/bush bearings or high quality anti-friction roller bearings. Roller bearings are pretty much standard nowadays, as they allow for 20 – 30 % in power-savings. A lubrication system is no longer required.
Adjustment of the front roll used to be made by hand (manual by ratchet) or later motorized by worm gear.
Nowadays hydraulic pistons adjust the rolls and also protect rolls from high forces that can build up in between the rolls (roll safety). They also open roll gap immediately when pushing the safety bar in front or back in case of emergency (required by European Safety standards CE).
Rolls are made with a central bore for cooling through a spray-type lance (low cost type cooling) or peripheral drills, where bores are closer to the surface for better cooling and more equal distribution.
The rotary joints connected to the spraying lance are supplied from tempering units to provide constant temperature during the mixing process.
At the ends of the roll faces the roll nip is being limited by the compound guide cheeks. The compound guide cheeks of split design with “centre tongue” avoid lateral escape of compound from the working area in any case.
The standard drive provides fixed speed and fixed friction ratio. The front roll typically runs slower than the back roll. Depending on the compound mixed the friction can range from 1:1.1 for a standard mixing mill, 1:1.25 for silicone or plastics mills, 1:1.8 for breaker mills for new rubber, 1:2.5 for refiner mills with narrow gap of 0.05 mm, up to 1:3.2 for breaker mills for old rubber. A variable speed motor on each roll is required for infinitely variable friction ratio.

Application : The mill is used for rubber plasticating, mixing, warming and sheeting.
General design:
1. The mill consists mainly for rolls, frame, bearing, roll nip adjusting, screw, heating and cooling device, emergency stop, lubrication system and such sections as electrical controls and, etc.
2. The main electric motor arrives the front and rear rolls to rotate oppositely through reduar, driving geras and friction gears.
Features:
1. The rolls are made of chilled alloyed castiron. Their working surfaces are of high hardness and wear-resistant. The working temperature of the bored roll is controllable by steam, cooling water or oil that pass through them thus, to meet the requirements of milling process.
2. Roll nip adjustment is realized by hand or electricity which can obtain high accuracy and sensitivity
